Recent Essays in Joe Foss Institute Scholarship Essay Contests

Below are videos about our two most recent scholarship essay contest winners. Catherine (scroll down) won the 2010 Veterans Day contest, and Jennifer was a finalist. The contest required Catherine and Jennifer to befriend a veteran and to write an essay about the experience. Megan (scroll down or click here), won the 2010 Independence Day contest, which required the entrants to write on the topic "Freedom isn't free."

Jennifer developed a friendship with Sergeant First Class Mike Stokes, a veteran who served in Iraq with the National Guard. This video highlights the essay Jennifer wrote about her experience.
