2010 Veterans Day Contest
|
Adopt a Veteran

Win a $5,000 Scholarship, $500 for Your School, and $250 for Your Class!
Here’s the challenge: Find a military veteran that you do not already know. Get involved in that person’s life. This is NOT simply an interview. Make a friend, discover his (or her) history, his feelings—then and now—and how he would like to spend the rest of his life. Write a 1500 word essay about the experience (and continue to cultivate the relationship, of course). Our hope is that, whether you win the contest or not, your life will be much richer for having connected with someone who has served our nation.
Here's how to enter:
- Read the Entry Guidelines.
This is the part that is tempting to skip. We know, we know—guidelines don’t make for fun reading. But submitted essays that do not follow the guidelines fully will not be considered.
- Get to know a veteran, and then write and submit an essay.
Our panel of judges will review the entries, select finalists, and award the winner a $5000 scholarship.
- The best essay wins. It's that easy.
It really is. There are, however, some entry rules. Be sure to follow them carefully. We'll look forward to reading your great work.
To enter the Essay Contest, please download and review the official guidelines here (a .pdf file). Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting your entry.
All essays must be received electronically by 11:59 MST, Sunday October 10, 2010. No exceptions for late entries.
