The Joe Foss Institute recently visited the cities of Charlotte, NC and Dallas/Ft.Worth Texas to recruit veteran speakers. In Charlotte, we rented a Ford Expedition, and gave it our look and feel to help raise awareness for our mission to “Promote Patriotism, Public Service, Integrity and an Appreciation of America’s Freedoms.”
Program coordinators Dean Hall, Erin Carney, Mary Kay Porter, and Dylan Dalzotto handed out more than 5,000 pieces of literature to educate the public about our “Veterans Inspiring Patriotism” program. We also provided the opportunity to sign up for our newsletter for more detailed information about what JFI is doing/currently working on.

The Joe Foss Institute helped sponsor, and participated in, the 2010 VFW Flag Etiquette Ceremony in Arizona.
Co-sponsored by the Northwest Valley Veterans Association, more than 350 Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts participated. Each Scount went through training in flag etiquette, flag folding, flag saluting, and preparation for flag disposal.
Below is a photograph of the veterans and Scout Masters teaching the Scouts proper folding etiquette. Each Scout practiced with a veteran.

See more photos of the event here.

The Joe Foss Institute teamed up to support the Boy Scouts of America to celebrate the 2010 “Jamb-O-Rama” and 100 years of scouting. This exciting event offered scouts opportunities to test their skills through an obstacle course, to use SCUBA gear, to learn about blacksmithing, and much more. JFI was proud to be part of this event and enjoyed talking to our Nation’s youth and future leaders about patriotism, public service, integrity, and an appreciation of America’s freedoms.
Rob Lippert from the Arizona Military Collectors Club supplied a 1976 AM General jeep for display and the crowd absolutely enjoyed it!
President/CEO Bob Paulk and program coordinators Mary Kay Porter and Dylan Dalzotto teamed up with JFI Army veteran Bob Madden to engage this community by handing out bookmarks, stickers, American flags, and other items to raise awareness of the “Veterans Inspiring Patriotism” program. Parents, students, and troop leaders were very excited to know they could arrange a veteran speaker to visit their school or troop.
