Introduction to JFI

Full-Length Version

Here is the full-length (eight and a half minute) introductory video about the Joe Foss Institute, hosted by John Elway, which includes a brief bio on Joe Foss, as well as perspectives from teachers and several Advisory Board members about the importance of teaching patriotism in the classroom (to see the shorter version, click here):

The Institute (recognized by the IRS as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization) was founded in 2001 by Medal of Honor Recipient, General Joe Foss, together with his wife, Didi. Though Joe passed away in 2003, the Institute—under the guidance of Didi and its Distinguished Board—is working hard to promote patriotism, public service, and integrity, and to encourage an appreciation for America’s freedoms.

Our mission is accomplished, primarily, through our Veterans Inspiring Patriotism program currently, though future plans include efforts to expand our reach into new venues. We also hold annual essay competitions and provide scholarships for the winners.
